Louisiana State Sen. Elbert Guillory made headlines last year when he boldly embraced your FREDERICK DOUGLASS LIBERTY MESSAGE, becoming one of now several elected FREDERICK DOUGLASS REPUBLICANS.

No doubt inspired by Guillory's stand, retired small business owner and city Councilman Ralph Washington – who attended the same @Large political conference – ALSO switched from Democrat to Republican…

These gentlemen left the Democrat plantation and converted party affiliation SPECIFICALLY as a result of the outreach we help sponsor in the Frederick Douglass Republican (FDR) program, designed and presented by K. Carl Smith. We have supported K. Carl from the very earliest days of his efforts and rejoice in his success in changing lives and restoring our nation.

It was REPUBLICAN President Abraham Lincoln who signed the Emancipation Proclamation and REPUBLICANS in Congress who wrote the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments that restored the rights of blacks decimated by slavery, and who enacted the Voting Rights Act of 1965 against the Democrat's shameful Jim Crow laws.

It was no coincidence that freed slave Frederick Douglass himself called the Republican Party the "party of freedom and progress."

Sen. Guillory reminds us that it is the Democrat Party that proffered the welfare checks that invisibly re-enslaved ALL Americans who bought into the communistic message of dependency, diminishing personal responsibility and true charity replaced them with Big Government plantation welfare. Now the full weight of subsidizing the Leviathan of the federal government is a groaning burden upon our small business owners and most hard-working citizens – and it is being perpetuated by BOTH main political party Establishments.

In seeking governance consistent with the virtues of the traditional Republican Party of Lincoln, Sen. Guillory has taken the first, essential step towards freeing himself and his constituents from the Establishment parties' political exploitation.

NO community has been hit harder than our black brothers and sisters, both in terms of crime and social dislocation, and economically. And no community has been more ruthlessly exploited and taken more advantage of by the Washington elite.
